Henny gets ready to catalogue a shipment of new resources.
Henny has been a volunteer since the library began in 1977 – 40 years ago, as part of the original set-up committee. Shas was chairperson for several years and remains on the committee to this day as well as working in cataloguing up to two days a week.

Coming from a background in kindergarten teaching, she had a wealth of skills, with and empathy and knowledge of child development and personal experience.

Henny has headed the cataloguing department for over 20 years, learning the ‘tricks of the trade’ from the late Helen Bascand. In the early days, the cataloguing and hiring of resources was all done manually, a labour intensive task. Henny has passed on her cataloguing knowledge to her nieces Vivien and Mandy.

Both Henny and her husband Rob have been wonderful supporters of our library. Rob has always been involved in the library and supported Henny with her passion working here. He also provides sausages from Moots Meats for our many sausage sizzles and repairs resources.
Together they have ‘lent’ us their home, hosting Christmas lunches.

We have enjoyed Henny’s photos and stories and seeing her children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren.

Thank you Henny – you are a wonderful gift to our library community.
